I run my sig, and my FPS averages 25. I have all setting set to max, all filters and such set to max, all at 1162x864x16 (i can't see a difference between 32 and 16). FPS will drop to about 10 in thick clouds with trees and AI aircraft, but I haven't seen it drop below 7.

Georf I honestly think you would be disappointed :( Do you have any edition of flight sim at at all? I could GIVE you FS2000 but you would have to let me know your address somehow. No CHARGE whatsoever you could then pass it on to sombody else when/if you get a machine to run FS9.

Can't say fairer than that  ;)

This is my last post on this topic then ill shutup (or maybe a few more)

Does everyone know the game "counter strike" well they have a source game now and its highly detailed with reflective water high detail textures bump mapping (all like fs2004) and that runs at 30fps with everything full!
Search cs source on google images or just on a search to see what im saying

Seriously i either dont know what im talking about or you know everything :D

Skligmund,

Thanks for the honesty.  Pretty good machine...... but you still have such drops.  That's exactly what I mean.

The water cooling.... what does your CPU temp run at?

best,

I have a 2.8 ghz (orig thought I had a 3 ghz - oops), P4, 200 gb hd, 1 g ram, eVGA nVidia Geforce 6800GT 256mb, 800 mz fsb, Viewsonic VX900 19" flat panel LCD monitor, Saitek gamer's keyboard, Saitek X-45 joystic/throttle, eDimensional Audio FX headset/Logitec 5.1 THX surround sound speaker system

Runs 1000x better thanks to [link=http://www.fs-gs.com]Flight Simulator Graphic Solutions[/link]

I average 33 FPS (locked at 33), maxed sliders except one, 85% traffic using Ultimate Traffic - 100% traffic is way too much. Takes 2 hours to take off from busy airports with max setting), and even in busy airports I average 20 fps, but with no stuttering whatsoever

Savas,

Wow... even with your machine and Ramsa's incredible expertise, an average of 33 huh.

Antec TruePower 480W PSU
Asus P4P800S-E Deluxe
Intel P4 2.8 800fsb HT
2x512 of Corsair XMS4000 Pro
40 Gig W&D 8mb cache
160Gig W&D 8mb cache
ATI 9600pro 256

All sliders maxed i get about 15 fps... Im going to upgrade my card to an X800XT 256 and see if that improves it, since i feel thats the only part lacking big time.

Scott,

I went from a 9600pro (which I thought would have been good) to a 9800XT 256..... and it made a significant difference.... but not as much as I would have hoped.  It DID improve the visual LOOK of things.... but the freamerate improvement was not as dramatic as I thought it would be.  But I'm at 2.4 gig and 533 fsb.

I think your fast RAM and 800 MHz fsb will be now able to "feed" the video card.   ;)

best,

Maintaining 20 FPS is the low end on take off and landing. Even at LAX max Ultimate Traffic I can keep an average of 20

Savas,

Are you saying that you DO dip that low on TO + Landing?

best,

.............john

PS:  I am now toying with buying yet ANOTHER brand new machine just to run this ^%$# sim... and I do NOT want to have "issues".   ;)  M$ fs2004 does not just cost $50....it costs $3050.00  ;D.

At times I have, but I dont notice any difference at 20 than I do if I was flying around the Alaskan wilderness and getting over 50 fps.

There is no chipping, stutter, shaking, pausing, etc. Its extremely fluid and like watching a movie.

We figured 33 was a good number to set my lock at

I too agree with all what Savas is saying.  Michael does a superb job.  I think my average was somthing like 47FPS once my PC was sorted.

Again I still drop to 20ish when flying into bigger airports and my AI is set to 80% with everything else maxxed  ;D

JBaymore if you have a 9800XT and a fairly decent CPU and want your sim running silky smooth go get in contact with Michael!  Even if you spent the cash on an upgrade I bet it would still not run smooth purely due to the way Michael sets your PC up!

I really needn't have bothered with the 6800Ultra but I have kinda future proofed myself a bit and will only need to do a cpu upgrade in the next 2 years to keep a fairly decent system.

One thing you will learn with the FS-GS service is FPS really dont mean much.  The FPS can drop but the sim still flies smooth.  I dont even worry about the FPS anymore I just enjoy my sim with it looking soooo soooo nice  ;D
