[quote]I'd say pro pilots use ILS, Autopilot and any other help they can get all the time yes.............makes sense don't yer think? I don't knock the AP off 'til just before the flare....Couldn't say for military pilots..... better ask the CFS lads 'bout that ::)

I can tell you that military pilots are bound by their instrument tickets. The RAF had "white" "Green" and "Master Green." All ratings had a minimum break off height at which, if the runway was not in sight, had to go around or divert. In practise you can read between the lines that it requires flying by the seat of your pants to complete a landing. We never had total ILS, just had to monitor the needles, it was hard to do, especially in turbulent conditions. Master Greens, earned the rating.

GUYS!! I DID IT!!! hahaha I ROUGHLY fully understand how ILS works!!! Exactly at the center of the RUNWAY centerline!!! Yes!! I only disactivate the A/P at probably at the threshold of the runway!! hahaha...

Thanks!!! I even did it at ZERO visibilty!!!

But one question again! hah... When the APPR is ON the HDG should not be right?? At some flights I can choose both ON!! And the ILS fails... hmmmm

Ya guys understand?? hmmm

Siron..glad you are getting there...you need the AP on and the Appr on together ..then the AP should line up to the runway for you by itself if you have the right frequency activated. (The nav/gp toggle switch must be set to nav) It may wander a bit but leave it alone to find the localiser....Your speed should be right for landing at this point so just adjust the POWER to follow the glideslope....adjust the TRIM if you are going too fast(up) or slow(down).

PS....If the hdg is on, on the AP panel your plane will take the heading on the compass so don't have that on. ;D

PPS Thanks for the Military info Logjam...you'll appreciate then that "Seat of the Pants" flying is just not good enough with 350 paying passengers aboard eh?

Cool.... I managed to land the C-130 on ILS.... a pity that not all airport/airbase has ILS approaches.

Anyway are you guys using the FStraffic2002 (is there 2004 one??)

Is it easy to use?? I would love to fill the sky with planes....

Keep practicing siron....you'll need it when you get your AI traffic taking off and landing at the same time as you are.. ::)

If you want to see traffic at airports etc the Project AI stuff is all free at....

Yes siron it's very simple ...open the installer and browse to where you downloaded the airline files and it will do the job..............don't know about the other software you mentiond but Project AI is good AND free too ;D

By the way Nav.....turning off the AP at a mile or so out is a bit dicey if you can only see 100 metres eh? Try it sometime ::) ::) good flying ..commoner.

Did you unzip the thing first?  TRY THIS... open the airline zip folder and drag the file onto the desktop..THEN open the installer and browse to the desktop and click the file you dragged out and click open THEN just keep on clicking NEXT 'til it has installed. You can then trash the files or keep them somewher safe.you will see the planes at various airports around the world. Choose ones you would expect to find eg...American airlines if you fly from New York..etc...Y ;)

Downloaded a new plane, I guess you guys should had downloaded it too.... the 757-300, quite a full free addon BUTTTT!!!!

Anyway I flew it, IRF flight from WMKK to WSSS, well everything was fine till when I wanted to set ILS freq to NAV1, I realised there is no NAV1 for me to input!! dunno if its the add on itself, I juz cant find NAV1 only got NAV2!! Anyway I had to do a visual landing cuz ILS did not work on NAV2!! Sigh....But all was good. Though visibilty was low, I managed to land the 757 visually. Phew... took me 45 mins for that flight.

Anyone downloaded the 757-300, managed to do ILS landing??
