Image

........and to JB, I did actually rename the new file before adding the no cd one so maybe I didn't write over it eh?...what say you John?

......and to Richard how about having a look at what your Niagra looks like ;D

PS. another thing...how will the World Terrain Mesh be affected....I have a number of areas that use this?

I WISH somebody would tell me exactly what I should have

commoner,

Well.... fs9.exe IS the main program that launches the simulator.  If you renem it to something like fs9.old and then install the old no-CD file back as fs9.exe......... then you start the program....what you are running is fs9.exe the OLD file.  The "new" M$ patch exe file is now not running at all.  So whatever stuff they "fixed" in that part of the upgrade will NOT be applied to the simulator.

Simple scenery additions like bridges and such it is likely that they just added them to the scenery bgl's......so they will show no matter what is done with the fs9.exe file.

I think the varying responses to what this stuff actually does (or does not do) shows that the "results" of such changes can be pretty subjective.  Sometimes people see what they think they should see.

best,

......................john

commoner, here are the shots I took of the falls. I am using an ATI 9600 graphics card. Might have to upgrade this.

The first shot is with nocd and the second shot had CD 4 installed.

Hi Richard........nice shots there....I notice that the "spray" on my shot is above the falls where as yours is down on the water! I could see it on take off from the airport and it led me to the falls though it does look better at the bottom...wonder why that is? I have the Global Terrain Mesh on for this area by the way...I have the Radeon ATI 9200 and though really only "entry level"

With the help of Michael at FS-GS I installed the patch and fixed my Active Camera, and FSUIPC, and have no issues what so ever and the patch is a great thing from MS. While maybe not as wonderful as some freeware or payuware meshes, it is 100% better than it originally was.

I do have the patch installed, if my settings seem lower than yours they probably are, I don't have a monster PC.

commoner, I have the 9600 in the agp slot and a 9200 in a pci slot to run 3 screens. I have tried both cards running fs9 and have never seen a difference.

As far as the mist goes, it was above the falls as I approached but dropped to the bottom as I faced the falls. Will try it again this evening and verify that.

I also did not see any difference with or without the patch.

Yes the MIST does vary as you said.....but coming from FS98 not so long ago I find it all absolutely stunning..patch or no patch I've said before that FS9 can be "all things to all men" but some of the guys in the forum seem to like to do more tweakin' than flyin' I'm more of a flyer I guess but whatever your "thang" it's just great eh?....see yah..commoner ;D
