i think the only thing it really needs is more planes. i think they should make for planes to come with fs. but thats just what i think  :)

I meant that to be an option.  There is an add-on for FS (payware) where you need to pay virtual dollars to maintian your plane (such as to repair damage from deploying flaps while going too fast, too hard a landing, etc.)

I also meant that as an option...I guess I'm running out of ideas as to how MS can improve the game (but then, I only got into FS last year with FS2004).

I have had all the FS programs since the very beginning.  I also served in US NAVAIR for 10 years from 1980 to 1990.

In flight emergencies are taught on ALL Navy simulators.  Engine fires/Catastrophic HP blade failures that cut into hydraulics and sub-systems.  Major hydraulic failures, Pitch/Yaw/Roll computer failures.  Just about everything you can think of.

I have to agree to an extent with both sides of the argument.  FS DOES need random in flight failures not controlled by any human so you don't know what to expect or when.  I also don't think that we need to see aircraft wreckage with mangled bodies either.  In true simulators, when the aircraft is no longer recoverable, the computer stops, pilot is debriefed, and then they start again.

We will never be totally satisfied with all we want in a 100.00 flight simulator, but making it more challenging will not cost much extra...just a few lines of code.

Cheers.

So you guys don't agree that in flight emergencies are part of a simulation and not a game?

Oh well. Guess i'll have to be happy with an engine that fails or my avionics going out once in awhile for the sake of a more realistic simulation

Cheers :(

One feature that I miss from FS98 is that you can set a reliability factor in the sim. Set it at 0 and things start failing within minutes. Set it at just below 100. you're aircraft is still reliable, but you've still got that small chance that something might fail you in the future.

As for the 'career idea', go join a virtual airline. There's hundreds of 'em ;)

Hi everybody,
i am pretty new in this forum but i have been using the FS since Version 5.1. To me it is a way to get some distance from the normal routine and flying an aircraft like the 747 or sometimes an F 16 (Thanks Kirk) helps me to relax.
What I would really like to see in FS 10 is an Airbus. The world is not only Boeing. Airbus manufactures the best aircraft in the world and I strongly believe that Microsoft, even though they are an american company, should keep up with the time. The A 380 is coming soon.  ;D

I agree with pilot, FS needs a wider selection of aircraft from the start. The Boeings have really put me off flying larger jets.
I wouldnt mind seeing a Tupolev either  ;) .

Apart from that, its my usual rant about too much graphic goodies and not enough realism ( especially since this is ment to be a 'simulator' ).

hmmmm...FS needs to really really really badly fix its graphics...they are getting better but they are so far from being great...they got the water right with FS9 now they need to get the ground and such better...

How about better implementation of real world weather?  I'm not a fan of the instant change that occurs when Jesepens updates or you fly in to another weather area.

I know there's a couple places on the web where you can get real time feeds of air traffic.  Perhaps someday real world air traffic will be possible (how cool would that be).

I think random failures are already possible in the current sim if you set the settings right.  Not sure though, I'll check next time I play.

How about an FAA violations simulation which will, upon ending your flight, list all the rules you broke?  It would be a nice simulation feature as you could learn rule compliance, and it would add an element of humor for every time I decide to go canyon carving through midtown Manhattan in the Extra.

i am a long time simmer. over the years airport graphics improve but can i at least get to push back my own plane in a push truck in the drivers seat with wide angle side views. design a program to allow an assorted loading of either people and or cargo based on the type of plane and have the next airport have awaiting passangers or cargo that will reset the load requirements . visible cargo/passangers are not that important if you have a slower machine. you simulate real life trips with variables based on only the plane type and where you are headed. of course there would be a wait time until you could leave---so drink a coffee and see the changes!! happy flying

Maybe making the ground look more like it is in the real world?
