[quote]Sterk, a steep turn for a commercial jet is not the same a steep turn for a fighter jet ;)

Most airliners autoflight system won't allow steeper banks than 30 degrees.

However...steep turns are more common than you think, it's just that pilots are proffessionals and performs these manoevers without you even notice it.
just as an example: Some approaches to Heathrow calls for a good 150 degree turn (change in direction, not bank angle, lol) and those my friend can be quite steep - even in the 737's it's common to see them go into excessive

I have found not to much of a problem with ATC in fs9.now in the real world some airports you halft to make steap decents because of noise reduction and with skill it can be done with out a problem.but not  haveing to deal with noise reduction in fs9 i just use my best judgement no matter what ATC tells me to hold on final.once control turns you over to tower your on your own any way.so just make your best judgement call to get your aircraft on the runway at the right spot.and happy landing to all.

So what's the point to fly IFR in that case? If you do what you find best anyway,no matter what ATC says? ???

Anyway,I just dont like to fly IFR-thats all 8)

Well if you do what you want during most parts of an IFR flight then IFR will be stoped.but on final if ATC tells me to hold 3000 till localizer and i drop to 2500 no harm thats the part i was speaking of on final after control hands me off to tower.but as i said before flying a compleat IFR plan and makeing a steap approach takes skill.for anyone wanting to get this kind of skill to enjoy learning IFR heres a good site i highly recomend.

In the 737. I slow my speed down pretty early, during the decent

...Same here and I find that my approach speed is almost always right on by the time I'm lined up.
