Yes, it was, also clear and simple. Then, Nexus came and mixed everything up (;D ,jk).

OK. I've found some old posts about VASI&PAPI and will read them soon (they're long posts!)

Thanks for the help. :)
I'm trying to land
This aeroplane of ours gracefully
But it seems just destined to crash

PAPI is the VASI upgrade.

Precision Approach Path Indicator     (PAPI)
Description   The Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) provides precision visual glide slope guidance to assist pilots in landing. PAPI replaces the Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI) system. The PAPI system consists of four sharp transition projector units located at the side of the runway, spaced laterally at 29.5-foot intervals. A second complimentary set is normally provided on the opposite side of the runway.

Yeah I never use the VASI.
For some reason I can never remember how they work anyway

Try using the lights.
Makes no diff which kind.
Red means danger.
Three white and one red is the ILS GS.
Just a little high.
Something for the wife and kiddies.

Just for the record...
Microsoft has accidentally misplaced several PAPI/VASI lights, and those do not show the actual ILS path.
Also keep in mind, when conducting an instrument approach, don't pay much attention to visual references. If the PAPI shows your too high, disregard it as long as your on the glideslope according to the indicators on your instrument panel.

Yeah  :o  Ive flown a few of those approaches.
There is one in Switzerland that will land you on the side of a mountain, quite a bit short of the runway  :P .
