File recognition problem...

Postby gypsymoth » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:15 am

I want to remove some trees & am trying to use ExcBuilder program but it says it needs Msstdfmt.dll.  This file was sent to me from a member & I've put it in C:\WINDOWS\system32 as advised but ExcBuilder still won't work.

I've seen that I should do the following: "simply take the dll from the download and paste it in your system 32 folder then go start, run and then typing C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe Msstdfmt.dll" which I've done but all I get is an error message saying the module failed to load as it couldn't be found.   Well, it's in the System32 folder.....can someone tell me what I should do now?   I've been at this hours & feel at my wit's end.... :-?

Since placing the .dll, have you tried to run Excbuilder?

What OS are you using?

cheers,
Joe

Yes - I did try it just in case, but get the usual message "Class not registered - MSSTDFMT.DLL should be installed on your machine."

I've put it in System32 & did as my post says  :-?

The file may not be properly registered on your system.....

With the file, Msstdfmt.dll, in your C:\Windows\System32\ folder, go to Start>Run and type or paste the following in the 'open' line.

regsrv32.exe C:\Windows\System32\Msstdfmt.dll

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks Dave.  I get "Windows cannot find regsv32.exe."

I tried that Opa but got "the module may not be compatible with" my version of Windows. " Check to see if it's compatible with an x86 (32bit) or x64 (64 bit version of regsvr32.exe."

This might just as well in Martian.......all I know is I have Vista 64.  Just what & how do I check?!

That doesn't work.
I surfed & found this http://extensionfile.net/information/windows-registry which has "Like any other executable in Windows, the registry can be accessed by using the Run box and issuing the regedit.exe or regedt32.exe command."   I typed 'regedit.exe' & got the Registry Editor window, with 5 HKEY headings......does this help?

YES it does - all the trees I wanted to move are now gone, the preimeter road/taxiway follows the 1940 ground plan & the 3rd rwy, 19/01, is full use.   12 Spitfires sit at their alloted spots ready for action.........I hope period building will follow one I get Instant Scenery kitted out :D

Thanks again - couldn't have got here without your help  :)
