Aircraft Sinking into Runways

Postby a1 » Thu Jun 19, 2008 12:19 pm

The tires don't just sink in the runway but the whole aircraft is underground. I tried different aircraft addon and default but it has the same effect.

I have noticed this for some addon and default airports.

In Aerosoft's Fright Dogs some of the airports included have this happening. I see the plane sinking down to a default runway instead of the one included with the addon. The addon's runway is right on top of my plane. It is not a solid structure. It doesn't happen to Taxiways though.

With Holger Sandmann Columbia River Gorge Mesh and Landclass addon it happens.

This is really weird and takes the fun out of landing.

Addons i have:
Aerosoft's Freight Dogs, Canary Sim, George Grmshaw's Columbia River George Mesh and Landclass.

I have no idea why this happens. And apparently I have some Mesh problems as well.

Here are some screenshots.

Aircraft just taxis past runway and than falls down. Like quicksand.

I recently had this with my favorite Mirage.
What happened is I copied the wrong Aircraft.cfg file into the folder.
Check yours out, might be the same if you also mess with the aircraft.cfg files and backup etc.

Which Cessna is it - the default Skyhawk? Can you post your contact point information here, also the datum reference from the [weight_and_balance] section of the aircraft.cfg?

This has nothing to do with the aeroplane........

It's scenery problem.....bad AFCAD will do it but it sounds like there are other issues so the scenery is probably not added properly.

Try disabling the added scenery and see if that fixes it....if it does then take it from there.

Usually in cases like this you have added scenery but the model is on different scenery that is beneath the one you are seeing.

It happens to all aircraft.

I'll disable and add the sceneries again to see how it goes.

Best check it's OK in default then check again as you add each add on.

It's probably only one that's throwing it out

Hey A1,

is it on every place worldwide? If not, AFCADfiles needs to be updated. If so, the plane may be messed up.

Viel Erfolg,

Conan ;)

It's only at certain airports. I don't have to time to check all 24,000. ;D

a1,

Are you referring to Holger Sandmann's Columbia River Gorge? I couldn't find any Columbia River Gorge by George Grimshaw.

The Columbia River Gorge scenery includes corrected airport elevations, where needed,  to match the new mesh. If other addons have afcads designed for the default airport elevations, this would cause your problem.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

a1,

Does this only occur in the Columbia River George scenery area?

Could you list few of the airports where the problem occurs?

Ok i disabled the river George scenery and tested out the airfield that i have this happen. It looks like the default mesh and afcad is messed up as when i start the plane on the runway, the runway is about 50ft above the ground with the ground sloping at like a 40% grade.

Is there anyway i can restore the original scenery to normal? This was taken at the Green Acres Air Park.

To disable (or remove) CRG, there are 3 areas in the Scenery Library:

US Columbia River Gorge landclass
US Columbia River Gorge scenery
ZZZ_Corrected_Afcad_Elevation

You must also go to the ..\Scenery\Namw\ folder. Look in the \CRG hold\ subfolder. Follow the instructions in the .txt file to restore the default terrain files.
