Extremely annoying night light problem

Postby Mehdi » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:39 pm

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem that's really bugging me at the moment. Recently I had this really weird feeling that I'd just like to reinstall FS - i.e. delete all of my addons and the whole game too. So I installed it again and now I've got this weird problem when flying at night. I can't remember if I had this problem before the reinstallation.

I've uploaded some pics so that it can be seen clearly. Whichever "block" of scenery I'm in is in a blackout, and as I fly out of it, it lights up gradually until I'm in another block which in turn then blacks out and so on...

Any ideas?

More pics to illustrate the problem - as I progress down the runway, the centreline lights turn off.

Not sure what the problem is with the scenery lights turning off, but the centerline lights are supposed to turn red as you go down the runway. The bright lights on the runway mark the best landing area, and are directional, so they can only be seen from one side of the runway to avoid confusion. I also believe that they turn red for the last 1/4 to 1/3 of the runway as a warning that the runway is about to end. So the second set of pics is exactly how the lights should behave.

Thanks for the comments! The one about the precision lighting clears at least something up for me so thanks elite marksman!

I've tried changing my drivers, getting the latest ones, but apparently my card overheats and starts beeping and then eventually my system restarts... so I have to keep with the older drivers. Even with the new ones anyway the problem still exists.

I've tried deleting the fs9.cfg and clearing the scenery library but to no avail - anymore ideas boys?

Thanks.

Looks like you got a cooling problem, since you mentioned it yourself, i doubt it are the new drivers alone that could cause it. The black thingys might be artifacts, i cant say for sure though.

They are short pieces of important true information about paintings, sculpture and other forms of visual communication.

;D ;D ;D

Seriously, they are visual aberations that have nothing to do with the information that is supposed to be displayed on a computer screen created somewhat randomly when a video card is generating "garbage data".  Usually a sign of bad video memory or card overheating.

best,

Beeping, followed by a restart?.... :o....!

That sounds more like a Central Processor overheating problem to me...;)...!

Cooling fan seizing up?
Dust in the Fan and Cooler?
Need new application of heat transfer compound?

Too much bleedin' Football?.... ;D....!

Install, and run this...>>>

Thanks Foz, I got that program but I'm still trying to work out how to get the temperature of my CPU. I'll keep working on it :D I just don't get how it should be a CPU overheating problem if it oly happens when I update the graphics card drivers...

And Ijineda - what's the EMP board?

Thanks,
Mef.

an EMP is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse
Kills all the electricity.

And when you have one aboard, it could look like in you shots!
