I was wondering if anyone knew which aircraft can be downloaded that can be extracted with an older version of Winzip for fs2004?

You mean you find problems unzipping? Strange, I haven't heard of something like this before. :-?

Anyway, why don't you simply uninstall the old Winzip and install the newer instead? If you're a registered user, your key will work anyway, if you're an unregistered user, it will remain a nagware, but a newer one.

I'm still using my trusty WinZip 7.0. I've used it to extract literally 1,000s of zipfiles downoaded from all over the WWW for many years & never had a problem with it. I also use it to configure my own & the Fox Four files for posting.

PS. Mine is a registered version but you can still get the unlimited free trial HERE

PPS. If you have WinXP you don't need WinZip or any other 3rd party utility to extract zipfiles.

Well, I'm not quite sure why it doesn't work when I download files. Only occasionally can I download something that actually shows up on FS. I'm not 100% sure that it's the extracting process, but the aircraft almost never show up on FS.

If you still have problems tell me the file name of the aircraft & page it's posted on so I can check it out.

PS. If you have WinZip installed try the right-click "Extract to folder ......." option.

Can I ask a question? Are you trying to unzip directly into FS? Than it is very well possible that most of your aircraft don't show up. Only a few have the right foldernames to do that (aircraft, gauges, effects....). You better unzip into a temporary file and then manually put the parts into FS. How to do that you can read in the link Hagar posted before.

Ditto... it's well worth the trouble to unzip to a dedicated folder then check the contents and move then manually into the correct places in FS.
Beware the folder within the folder... many downloads have a maddening number of subfolders that have to be opened until you find the one with the name that should appear in the main Aircraft folder in FS.

Thanks for everything, but I think I have it now. The only problem that I still have is that I still can't get wing views to work. I've tried all of the key combinations, and pulling the hat switch back, and it never works. I'm not sure why it doesn't work.

Glad you figured it out.  Wing views work from the VC view & not all aircraft have interior views of the cabin or a DVC. The default key commands are Shift + Backspace or Enter & Ctrl + Backspace/Enter. There are various utilities to make it easier. One is named F1 View.

Well, I can get that to move the camera around, but I was thinking of the view where it's right over the wing, or a little behind the wing.

Not every plane has a wing view. It has to be in there to show up. Nine out of ten don't have it.

As I said earlier it depends on the aircraft. Very few have a detailed virtual cabin with those wing views.

Don't worry, installing stuff in fs is a bit infuriating at times for all of us- but you get used to it! Gd luck!

If a aircraft doesn't have wingveiws, you can often get them off the Panels Section of Simv.

I'm going to try the Posky 767-300 and get the wing view off of the panels page, but where do I put the file once it's extracted?

You put the wingveiws in the panel folder of the aircraft. Then, add the required text to the panel.cfg file. It is usually provided in the wingveiws readme. Follow the included directions.
