Hey everyone, I'm new here.

My World.rar file from CD 4 is corrupt.  The scenery is not totally installed.  Any way i can getr the world.rar?

Take the game back to wherever you bought it and they should exchange it. Or, you can contact MS and for a small fee they will send you a new disk. Also, methinks that something isnt right here as it is World.cab on my cd, not .rar. WinRAR is a 3rd party progam not used by MS, but very commonly used by pirates.

My experience with winRAR is that it coverts all compressed files it finds to the .rar thingy.

No, it just replaces the icon with the RAR icon, it still has the same extension.

Yep sounds dodgy.  If you're just installing off the cd, no matter where you got it from, RAR should not even come into the picture.  There are no rar files on the cd, and when the cd is installing nothing is ever opened (in front of you anyway) where it could or is changed to RAR.  The installer automatically decompresses all the CAB files during the installation process.  There is no need to open or modify any of the files at that point.

Could you post the error message if any that pops up?  I mean, how did you pinpoint that particular file as being the cu;prit?  Which exact scenery doesn't work?

If it's a shop purchase than return ot sender.  If not, then I'm sorry but in this case making haste towards the DELETE key may be the best course of action to take.

Eh, it is a .cab.  World.cab.  It's out of warranty, and I cant find the file anywhere.

World.cab.  

It's corrupt, probably because of a scratch.

Have you tried to remove the scratch using one of the available cd cleaners?

It's cheaper than buying a new package.

1: Most would see it as piracy.

And 2: World.cab sounds like a f*cking huge file.

It is highly, HIGHLY unlikely to have a corrupt file on a legitimate disk.  From what I understand, scratches don't corrupt files-they may make them unreadable or damaged on the disk, in which case they probably wouldn't show up at all when you installed the game.  I would recommend getting a new disk from microsoft for the small fee.

Wouldnt be the First MS Product to go crappy, my CFS1 did the same thing this disk did... only mine had a huge crack down the middle, but before I threw it, it didnt work, the reason I chucked it  ;D

The file on the disk itself is not corrupt.  But when you install it, and get to the fourth CD, it only installs about 120mb out of the 200something mb- and brings up a message that it's corrupt.

Then I would reiterate to send for a new disc from Microsoft.
