M$ Console

WAIT DON'T MOVE THIS YET

How many PC people would go out and buy the new X-box if Flight Simulator would be availible on it?  I think it would be a great thing.  I want the opinions of FS people, thats why its here and not in sofware or whatever.

If FS was on X-box, we would all get the same graphics (good graphics), there would be less danger to peoples computers that are not up to par, but still have sensitive files.  There will still be internet access, and it would open the consoles to higher quality  FS's

The idea it self is not that bad. Game consoles have better graphics, yet it would mean I have to buy an X-Box. And I already own a PS2. Can you download something to a game on a console like you can to a computer? Would all available downloads still work or not? And would Microsoft Flight Simulator still be a simulator or would it become some kind of arcade game?

Just some thoughts. Nothing else.

Crash ;)

NO!

In fact, I am quite willing to state that I will never buy an MS console if they make such a move.

A move to a console would be a step back to FS 98 days (except in graphics). In graphics I would have a screen resolution offering less than my current setup, consoles being limited to the resolution of a TV screen. I would also lose both of my FS related hobbies (plane construction and a home simpit).

Any such move is a good motive to polish up a large blunt object.

I've made the question on here before, as I would be all for it.  Although I recognize now that there wouldn't be the diversity of all the top-'o-the-line computers to the ones running on rubberbands and gum.

Anyhoo, I would certainly buy it, just as soon as they make a joystick to the Xbox.

I think it would be the "kiss of death" for the whole multiyear franchise.  They'd sell a crap load of them when they  first came out... and then when the gazillions of gamer type folks realized that it is not a GAME....... theyd never buy another one.

And in the process M$ would shed the real sim fans......... who'd be disgusted by the "game" aspect of the XBox orientation.

best,

..a big NO to that.....at least 75% of the enjoyment I get from FS as it is, comes from tweaking and just generally "messing around" with addons etc.......can't see M$ building that sort of stuff into Xbox...it would just be a "flying game" IMO...commoner :o

NEVER!!! The add-ons, tweaking... all the fun things would go... Plus how can you use a joystick, or yoke and pedals??? What about people with simpits all of those aspects of the hobby would go... it would kill FS!!!!

NO!

It would be crud.. Consoles dont run the same as computers, and you would be stuck with a fairly default FS with the exception of addons on a harddrive also, it would be hard to customize your FS without a OS...

You wouldnt even have the same code that would allow for Flash Kneeboards or FSmodules..

No Multiscreen!!.. think of the multiscreen people.. 8)

Furthermore, the graphics would be appauling.. and would take a beast of a Console.. which i doubt the PS3 or Xblock 360  ::) could cope with properly....

FS with a game console controller, ahhhhhhhh.
Left joystick forward, press pinkie finger button, plus star key together with reset, and  you can jump right into the perfect approach with ILS set after you messed up the first time.

NO, NEIN, NOPE, NIET, IIE!!!

Should (and it's a big should) M$ translate FS on the consolles only, I'll remain forever and ever a user of the last version on PC.

Tell whatever you want about modern consolles, they aren't as expandable nor twekkable as PC's (this not counting that one would find himself in the obligation to buy the consolle too, not only the simulator, and money doesn't grow on trees where I live) nor they are as graphically accurate (no consolle I know goes over TV scan definition). A move in that direction, as JBaymore already said, would be the Swan's Song for the simulator of house M$. >:(

I never said ONLY consoles, I was kinda just pondering the idea.

I agree that MS might change FS into a Game, but I thought that if they moved it to a console, then they would keep it how it is.  Idunno about add-ons though.

I would have thought that for people like me with a computer that cannot keep up, that it would be nice to have good graphics.  And I don't think the physics would be compromised.

Old Bill Gates knows all too clear that by making FS a console-only game, he would risk millions of dollars in revenue and the FS franchise would suffer greatly.

By keeping FS the way it is, he will gain more money and it will be easier for us. Like I said before, he knows this all too well. He may be a greedy guy, but he sure as  hell ain't desperate.

You guys....no no no.  You realize that you can download from the internet to your Xbox rite?  Don't go saying that the whole aspect of tweaking the game would be lost,  as it's still perfectly there.  Also, I SUGGESTED that they MAKE a JOYSTICK for the xbox, don't talk about how crappy it would be before reading other posts.

Also, the Xbox (especially this new 360) has a much better capacity and use of memory than the normal PC.  Plus, this new Xbox is coming with an optional upgrade of Hard drive, (not that you'd need it, it's filled to the brim as is).

The 360 is still designed to display on a TV screen...

The graphics looks cool...but set your screen resolution to the same as a TV screen and see how much better that looks.

As for tweaking...can I install Golden Wings on it?

Nope! I can't do the file management required.

Don't want it and firmly believe it would be the death knell of a great franchise.

IF FS went to console, then I think that we could forget tweaking and adjustments to the box. In the UK Microsoft have just had the first successful prosecution of a guy who was "tweaking
