At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

The Aeroplane Heaven Seafire is a MUST!
Anything by Milton et al is also fantastic ;)
The Soko Galeb we have here at SimV is also gorgeous ;)
It really comes down to what kind of flying you want to do...

Echoing Ozzy, it all depends what you want to fly.  Being a Brit I have to recommend the stuff by Dave Garwood, the Hunter for jet freaks and the Rapide for class; any of David Maltby's heavy metal; and Rick Piper for other classic Brit stuff, especially the Chippie and the JP.

The BAe 146-200 by Jon Murchison of Aircraft Repaints New Zealand (with the panel by Matthias Lieberecht).  Rivals a lot of payware easily.

It is a great 4 engine regional jet.

best,

Beech D18S By Milton Schupe! I know it was already mentioned, but it's just so great!

Beechcraft Twin Bonanza by Eric Dantes. It's my 'standard plane' that I fly when I don't know what I want to fly. Simply a very good plane all around.

I just got the Aviat Husky from AvSim, I don't remember who make it, but it is pretty good. It comes with either standerd wheels, amph. floats, or tundra tires.

The Globe Swift package found here on SimV, dont remember who made it either, but its the only one. Very good planes. Comes with the float version, standard version, and the updated Swift II, and a small peice of scenery for Alaska.

Thats about all I can think of. It really depends on what type of aircraft and type of flying you like.

I agree with John - Jon Murchison's Avroliners are great. Also the 737-300 by FFX (Erick Cantu) and Erick's Kittyhawk -700 models are great too. Don't forget Moach's 737-700 Experience.

Somebody else mentioned Dave Maltby: his VC10 is fantastic.

I fly airliners - can you tell?

Well, for long trips, I like the Vega.  4,000+ miles without stopping for gas.  Bit of a crappy autopilot system, tho.

For acrobatics and low-altitude suicide runs, tho, I prefer the P-38 Lightning.  Classic style, tons of power, and ya can fly inverted!  The one I downloaded has pretty good range, too.  http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage26.htm

Freeware - Tom Conrad's OV-10 Bronco.
Smooth easy flying machine.

Payware - Dreamflleet 2000 Beechcraft A36.
Just an awsome work of art. So many bells and whistles. I don't see how anyone could not like it.
When it absolutely, positively, has to be taken out overnight...

The Real Air Spitfire is a must have.  Even if you don't buy payware, this is one you should get.  It is quite simply the best add-on ever designed for FS.

Right now I fly the Aeroplane Heaven F2G Super-Corsair...

There's a lot.  I also think it depends on what you want.

Fighter
P-38 by David Copely

Twin Turboprop
Rockwell 690 turbo commander by veneavions

Twin Piston
Twin Bonanza by eric dantes

Single turbo
Pilatus pc-12 by brian gladden w/ the air file from the afg one

Single prop
Cessna 206, can't remember who, but it's a really good one with a vc.

Fighter Jet
F/A 18E by FS KBT

Hope this helps

The POSKY (Project Open-Sky) 752 is pretty good, but it's a constant love-hate relationship (the flaps create WAAAAYYYY too much lift and drag, the textures take FOREVER to load, and the VC is mediocre), but for some reason I can't stop flying it.  Me suspects it's because I'm just so damn good at landing it 8) ;D
