Realism Enhancement

Postby RapidFire » Sat Apr 09, 2005 2:40 pm

Alright, well I'm looking for anything and everything I can get my hands on to make my FS9 as real as possible. So please, if you know of any add-ons, mods, etc that might help, please let me know in this thread. I've already added a bunch of jets, airport enviornment upgrade, and set all my details to high settings.

Anything is a appreciated, thanks :)

Not so much of a realism upgrade, more visual, but amazing all the same is the More Water package available at Avsim. Really makes the water look amazing.

Another great great package i just downloaded was active camera 2004. It is really awsome. it alows you to get out of the aircraft and perform a visual inspection as you walk around the aircraft, with footstep sounds and all :o
It also enables fly by views, and approach views. Really awsome.

PAI (Project AI). It gives you gobs of real-life traffic using a kabillion new planes. (Wow, I think I used at least three made-up words in that conglomeration...)

RapidFire,

Well... in that case drop on down to the "Homebuild Cockpits" Forum and start reading the threads there.  Then get out your paper and pencil, your saw and soldering iron, and get cracking.

You want realism......... we got realism  ;).

best,

some of those projects are awesome. Unfortunately I don't have the buget or the knowledge to create something like that. I do use the CH flight yoke and pedals. I was looking more for add-ons.

Someone told me theres one where the little vehicles come out and service your aircraft while its at the gate. That would be really cool to have.

I suggest using 3D clouds, Active Sky and Flight Assistant.

3D Clouds will help with FPS on MAX settings.

Active Sky "supposedly" provides more realistic weather.

Flight Assistant is a Voice Interface program.

Additionally,

New landing lights.

A lot of what you guys have mentioned is payware...hardly encouraging for someone starting out.

Check out FSSkyWorld, PAI, the Airport Environment Upgrade, 3D Contrails, live ATC and the myriad of freeware sceneries available, and I think you'll be pleased without spending another dime. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

SRTM World Mesh certainly isn't Payware and IMHO is the one single item that makes a real difference...PAI has already been mentioned and so has Sky World........and nobody said it had to be freeware.....please don't knock other guys who are trying to help...........commoner ::)

Hey thanks for the SRTM stuff, that is going to take me a couple of days to download everything and get it working. I am curious though as to how much of an improvement it will make. Could you maybe provide some screenshots, or list some big changes that you've noticed?
