Disappearing hills..

Postby gypsymoth » Wed Feb 22, 2012 4:35 am

All the hills round my home airfield have gone....the terrain is flat.  They were there 2 days ago.  The whole countryside looks flat too.
What do I edit in FS9.cfg to get them back?
Thanks.

Its "England" Gypsy!... ;D...!

Its always "flat" in the Sim... :'(...

..and Bournemouth isn't very far above Sea level anyway!

The Flight Sim scenery designers never did come to England to have a peek at it, so they made it....FLAT!.... ;D...!

Its one of the reasons why I don't "fly" it...My part of the English Sim countryside is nothing like it is in real life!
The default Sim scenery mesh for Great Britain is not very well represented.
Mesh selections from here...>>> http://simviation.com/1/browse-Terrain+Mesh-40-0 improve it slightly.

Paul...a very flat...EGBS...Shobdon, etc... ::)...!

There were hills here 2 days ago....I could look across from rw01 at Ibsley & see Battle HQ on the N-S hills on the left.  This morning it's a flat as can be...

Have you added any new scenery or the like?

Have you removed all the traffic BGL files from the Scenery/World/scenery folder?  That flattens part of the Pacific Islands.

I've just been adding nissen huts, etc, to communal sites in the vicinity of the  airfield perimeter....nothing's been removed.
I changed TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 to 21 & that changed hills, etc elsewhere but not at the location in question....oh well, very strange!

I've used Instant Scenery 2 for ages now & haven't noticed a problem when using it before....

No, I don't work for Mythbusters...

I'd be willing to volunteer for a day or two.

Since Hyneman lamented the strange absence of fan visiting in the last special... or was in on the net... you could very well go there and pester them, if you live anywhere near S. Francisco. ;)

Even before knowing the odd dearth of visitors there, I decided that should I ever find myself in the States and anywhere near California, I will go visit the guys for sure. :D
