CTD

Postby Dougx » Fri Dec 02, 2011 10:19 am

I am experiencing daily CTD, so far only once in 2-3 hours of flight. Yesterday it was about 5 min. into flight, this morning after one and a half hours. When this happens the 2004 icon drops to the task bar and a mouse click restores the flight. This is a minor inconvenience but I would like to find the problem. Intel core duo, 2.53 G, GE force 9400GT, 2G ram and Hitachi 500 GB SCSI drive. I recently added about 50 acft from my old  starting to fail hard drive. I am not sure but this problem may have started after the additions. Appreciate any input.   Doug

If you have active in you PC a drive that is starting to think about retirement in a junkyard, the problem may just be that. Remove it and see how it goes.

Eventually, remove the planes you added (move them in another folder).

See if it works and let us know.

Give your computer a good clean inside too.

I was getting lock-ups and the screen going a random colour - but pulling the video cards out and cleaning them with compressed air fixed it and now they're working like new! (touch wood!)

My first thought was overheating but I also fly FSX for hours with no problems. I would think that would rule out heat or impending hd problems. I should also mention the ctd happens with any ac I am flying. The thing that is most confusing to me is if the ctd happens early in the flight it has never repeated for the rest of the flight 2-3 hours. As I mentioned it sometimes happens one to one and a half hours into a flight and no more for the rest of the flight. I have approx 250 ac moving them would not be easy but it may come to that.   thanks guys    Doug
