ATC cancels flightplan with no notice?

Postby Stewy44 » Sun Nov 20, 2011 4:56 pm

G'day guys,

Have you ever had this happen before - I flew Dubai-Singapore yesterday - all 3100 nm of it! - and was about to turn into the ILS and ATC advised that the flightplan was cancelled and to squawk 1200...it was mildly annoying to get back with ATC and I missed my "run" into the airport and had to then do a go-around...

It's happened only a few times before - and usually when radio range is really stretched - like flying from Europe to Greenland...but this is the first time this happpend on a 'normal' route... >:(

Just forget about default ATC. The bugger is so bugged, it's bugging me that people keeps using it regardless. ::)

Reconcile yourself with the fact that M$ does not care about it and only puts it there for show, and put it behind you. I know I did. Been almost, what? ...three... four years maybe? ...since I last used it, and ever since, while flying off-line, I make my flight plans and my procedures using maps on the net or improvising with the help of FSnav when maps are unavailable... and, you'll never believe it, never had a problem anymore. :P ;)

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.
