VFR Flying -- Low and Slow -- Calling all simmers who keep their heads below the flight levels !

Postby Insert Name Here » Thu Jun 30, 2011 5:52 pm

Hi

I am recently more interested in flying and enjoying the scenery from simple piston aircraft. What sceneries / locations / aircraft make this sort of flying more interesting for you?

This would be a great question for our old-time member who has a picture of the motorcycle in his signature.. I forget his name  :-/ But...he.. always writes ... like :) .. this ! :D
Have fun!

I love flying around my home airport of PAJN.  Great terrain, airports spaced every 60-100 miles so the hops aren't too long.

anywhere up in British Columbia, Canada.  Especially with Misty and Tongass Fjords.

(i have been sucked over to the darkside of FSX, so there are so many more options that are out there)

You could try to get Ultimate Terrain, and Ground Environment Pro, together they make any landscape 1000 times better than default.

Get the two part Glacier Bay Alaska enhancement by Holger Sandmann and friends.

Payware quality that is free and spectacular - especially for "low and slow" fliers.

You won't be dissapointed.

The mountains of Japan make for a nice VFR flight, with the occasional glimpsed volcano. The islands of the Caribbean too, but only with the right add-on scenery. The Andes or the Himalaya when I want something challenging. The Alps too are nice, especially the neighborhood of the European Lukla (Courchevel), though I rarely go there... too close to home = not so much fun, for me. :D

Obviously you need the right scenery, sadly sometimes only payware. ;)

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

There is an excellent payware VFR England (27gig on DVD) that is amazing.  Plus numerous individual add-ons of cathedrals, water towers, bridges, etc.
