AH-64 Tail wheel bouncing

Postby Capt.Propwash » Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:41 pm

..... ok. you already know the problem from the title, do i need to play around with the contact points to get it to stop bouncing while i am on the ground?

it is a payware bird that i had bought a long time ago, and the company no longer exists.  :'( so there is no way for me to go to them directly for the real support that i need.     just thought someone might have had an idea of what would be causing the problem.

all other tail draggers are fine.  Alpha UH-60, default DC-3, WOP P51, B-17G....

only this one has a tail wheel that bounces at every airport, .. anywhere you try to LZ.

I copied this from another forum -

Perhaps the info will provide something for you to experiment with.

quote

Contact point 0 is the nosegear / tailwheel

The contact point is located
-15.72 feet back/ aft from the aircraft reference point
0.0 feet to the left or right of the aircraft centerline
-0.93 feet below from the aircraft horzontal centerline

Change the last number until you get an appearance you like.

Or adjust the static_pitch a small amount. Because this is a tail dragger, static_pitch may control the tailwheel appearance more than the contact point.

end quote

This was from a post by Reggie Fields, who is a well known FS expert, regarding a totally different aircraft but perhaps his ideas will be useful to you.

so by that, use the following numbers...

point.0 = 1, -32.13,  0.00, [glow=yellow,2,300]-6.40[/glow]

and play with the highlighted number
