FSX --> FS9 AFCAD converter

Postby Capt.Propwash » Mon Jul 12, 2010 9:23 pm

I know that there is a FS9 to FSX AFCAD converter, but is there a way to reverse engineer FSX scenery .BGL's so that they can work in FS9 ????

There are a few sceneries that have been made for FSX that were never made for FS9 that I would love to have.

would that work on downgrading planes enough you can use them in FS 2004 also? I did find a plane someone had made for FSX but I can't use it for 2004. Would this work on downgrading that also?

Its probably possible, with AFCADs at least.  I'm no programmer, but I think with anything more than AFCADs, you run into problems with converting stuff like textures back into FS9.  I'd so love to see a way to convert FSX scenery into FS9.

I know with sims like X-Plane, they have converters that convert both FS9 and FSX sceneries into X-Plane; if only theres converters that go the other way around and stuff.

As for planes; probably the same issues.
Cheers,
RB

I have no clue about the planes, and frankly, every FSX plane has already been made for FS9.  You just have to look hard enough to find it.      Also, I dont really care about FSX > FS9 planes, boats, helos.      I just want to go backwards for scenery.

1 instance to be exact.... MOCATS SNOW DOG TOURS is only for FSX... NOT FS9.  therefore, I wonder if there is a way to reverse engineer it so that it would work in FS9.

I have no reason to want FSX planes in FS9.   98% of my FS9 planes function just fine for me, and the textures are good enough for my laptop.  the other 2% that are messed up, are in the Panels, and we all know how easy it is to swap out a panel.

Hi,

If your FSX airport BGL does not contain anything in it that AFCAD doesn't have (like taxi signs, etc.) you can just load the BGL file into AFCAD and then save it.  That will remove all the FSX specific stuff and turn it into an FS2004 AFCAD file.

You can also load an FSX file into ADEX, remove any FSX specific items (vehicle tracks, jetways, etc.), and then load into ADE9.

Hope this helps,

hmmm, i dont have ADEX or ADE9. soooo.    i might have to tinker with AFCAD or just download MOCATS and then take the scenery into my little operating room and play surgery.   Open it up to see what I can slide and dice and then reattach to FS9.
