Meh... a little practice, especially with differential thrust (even when using only one throttle device and key commands to switch engines), and it's not that hard to taxi even the Tri-Motor.
It's not easy, mind you, but it just takes a little practice.
a steerable tailwheel on a DC-3... sacrilege!!     ;)

Practise, smactice.....it now steers thanks to stewpot's tip, without all this 'one throttle device & key command' fiddle faddle.  You'll be saying next I should disable/remove the Auster's AP........

The answer is to invest in a new joystick with twist-grip rudder.
