Area 038?

Postby flipside » Sat May 22, 2010 11:27 am

Whenever I start FS9 I get an error message that says that the Scenery cfg for Area 038 is missing. Where is Area 038 and Where if possible I can get a replacement Scenery cfg for the aforementioned Area?

It is even more secret than Area 051.

This error occurs if you delete or move a scenery area folder without first deleting its entry from the FS2004 Scenery Library.

Unless you edited the scenery.cfg file, Area 38 is the default Addon Scenery folder. While this is a default scenery area folder, it is originally empty and is not needed. You may either:

-Restore it from the recycle bin, or make a new one.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I think it's more likely you deleted the Addon Scenery\scenery sub-folder. This is a very common mistake when people first start installing scenery. Look in the FS9 Addon Scenery folder for a sub-folder named Scenery (or scenery). If it's missing it's easy enough to replace. Create a New Folder & rename it Scenery.

What I did was go into the main Add On Scenery folder in FS9 and create a scenery folder inside it and copy a dsd folder at random into it. That seemed to fix it.

Excellent. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

PS. Not sure what a dsd folder is but you shouldn't need it. The original default Addon Scenery\scenery folder is empty.
