Greetings,

Try looking under the "display settings" option in the sim. I believe there is a dawn/dusk texture blending option that needs be checked. You could also look under the "hardware" tab of the display section and select the appropriate filtering method.

dawn/dusk texture blending is checked, filtering method does not change anything...

1. It has not looked like this in the past, correct? When do you last think everything was normal with the sim?

2. What addons have you installed recently?

3. Are your CPU and Graphics card temperatures normal?

4. Are the graphics in the sim progressively deteriorating? (Are more and more textures are becoming corrupted, including ones that weren't during the previous sim session?)

I'm not quite sure how to handle this one, so hopefully others with more knowledge will jump in here.

Don't know much about your card, does it have it's own fan?
I think this is a cooling issue, but I'm not sure  :P

I got this in FSX the other day.  It freaked me out, too.  It was at Charles-de-Gaul.  I just brushed it off as a freak thing, but it makes me interested that it happened to someone in a different sim.  Use Speedfan and check temps of your components, and I'll tell you if anything's awry.  http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

This is suspiciously looking like a video card issue, though I am not 100% on that.  Have you updated any drivers recently?  Do you experience other symptoms in the sim (or games in general), such as crashing, freezing, sound stuttering, or other anomalies that you didn't previously get?
Cheers,
RB

Are any of your other Games, Desktop, etc, affected?

It appears that your "Display Properties" are being changed from 32 bit to 16 bit, to 8 bit, display/colour resolution!

Certainly something to do with the Display Card!

Paul.

Desktop > right click > Properties > Settings > Colour Quality.

P.S. ..have you previously been playing any "Old" games, defaulting to 16/8 bit resolution?

Thanks for all the input. I think it definitely has something to to with my graphics card. Its an ATI Radeon 4850 HD and its fan is running, but has been making strange sounds lately. Also, Catalyst Control Center gives me the error message because of an "unhandle exception".

Well I guess its time for a new graphics card. Any suggestions? :)

The first thing I would do is to give the computer case and its components a good clean, removing all the accumulated dust, and checking that all the Cooling/Ventilation Fans are running at full speed, and not slowly seizing up due to lack of lubricant.
Make sure all the components are securely seated, memory, cards. etc...
It may be just a case of overheating?

I regularly have to perform all the above checks!...;)..!

Dismount the graphics card.  Take a bottle of compressed air and blow out all the little channels that are part ofthe heat sink / duct system.  This might even require a little dis-assembly of the card ducting to really get it all.  It is AMAZING how much crap ends up getting caught in there.

Stick it back in and see if that improves things.

Been there, done that, bought the T shirt.

best,

If your CCC is kicking back errors, I'd suggest that as a place to start. The driver is still working, but from the shots you posted, it looks like all your graphics settings were reverted back to defaults. (ie AA, AF etc.) Any software installs or updates as of late?

Cleaning the card is ALWAYS a good idea, and afterword, you might think about uninstalling and reinstalling your ATI software.
