Does the default FS9 scenery have the "checkerboard"?

Postby Stewy44 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 6:08 am

G'day guys,

I was bombing around Hong Kong last night and tried to find the checkerboard for the 'over the city' ILS approach into the old Kai Tak airport. (ILS Rwy 13 I think?)

I couldn't seem to find it though - is it there?  I also noticed that Kai Tak is run-down and empty, has 'closed' Xs on the runways and no traffic - which is realistic for 2004 I guess ;)

Still, it would have been good to fly the checkerboard approach, I haven't done that yet! :)

Cheers

Hi Stewy44,

fs2004/fs9 doesn't have the checkerboard approach which I think is a shame but it's probably easy to add, may have to create a building with the checkerboard pattern as long as it's placed correctly.
Fs2002 does have it.

Question for the genious guys here, can the scenery from fs2002 be extracted and used in fs2004 or the .bgl files be simply copied over.
May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

Go to flightsim.com (I don't know if it's here, or not) and search for 9dragons in FS2004 scenery.

V2 is 4 parts plus an update.

cheers,
Joe

The full Version 2 - in one download and complete with an auto-installer you can trust is available here:

http://fsfiles.org/PA/index.php?act=view&id=29

The update:

http://fsfiles.org/PA/index.php?act=view&id=28

Be sure to spend some time reading the documentation - it alone is a monumental piece of work.

Fantastic scenery at a price you cannot beat.

I second the suggestion for the payware KaiTak from FlyTAMPA.  I have it and LOVE it.  All flyTAMPA airports are stunning....worth every penny (or shilling, or whatever  ;)).

best,
