Well, the key to installing addons is all in reading the directions. In the unlikely event that you grab an addon that does not have adequate instructions, you know that we're here to help.
Unfortunately a large percentage of FS freeware developers have no idea of the best way of installing files themselves. This makes some of their installation instructions confusing to say the least.
For example: I recommend ignoring all instructions to extract files direct to FS. This is one of the most common causes of installation problems I know.
