FS2004 wont open when I leave and go back to it

Hi There,

I have just loaded FS2004 on my computer, and run as an administrator in vista home premium. However when I press the windows key to exit 4 a while and then when I click on the scroll bar to go back to the game nothing happens and no response, any help would be appreciated.

Hello Eddy...

Did you previously have FS 2004 running successfully on Windows XP before?

It may be due to the usual "Vista" problems/difficulties?

The Windows Key choice to go in and out of the Sim works fine on my FS 2004 and Win XP set-up.

(The program drops into the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen ready to click on again to return to the program).

Hi yes the problem seems to be at the start of FS2004 if I exit at the menu with the windows key, then try to go back nothing happens however it does work when I am in flight, and I use the windows key I can go back to the game Okay.  I suppose the trick is simply exiting the game at the menu by normal method, or i should only use the win key when I am in flight. I have never played the game on win xp only vista.

You could try going to task manager and using the "switch to" feature...that's what I have to do sometimes with FSX on Vista.

Hi eddy.  I used to have your problem when I first got my Viasta machine, plus many other problems.  I had Vista reinstalled & now FS9 drops down using the window key & pops back up only if I click on it in the task bar.
If I drop it at the menu or anywhen else using the mius sigh at top right, it goes haywire when I click it.   :-?

Try the Ctrl + Escape key combination instead to get back to your desktop.

I have this same problem.


Thats why I never minimize it because it will crash. What you have to do is click ALT+ENTER then it wont be full screen. Do whatever you want then when you want it back to full screen click ALT+ENTER.

That happens to me if I leave the menu open (or anything open), if you just pause it it should work. Hope that helps!

Hi everbody,

Thankyou for all your replies and help the Alt and Enter method seems to work as does the ctrl and escape key method, as when I ctrl and escape then click the task bar to go back to the game it now responds, once again thankyou for all your help.
