TIE Fighter?  What TIE fighter?

Postby Boikat » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:47 pm

Has anyone tried the "new" TIE fighter in the 2004 Misc., that was just posted earlier?  It's not showing up in the selection menu under "starwars" as the aircraft manufacturer

The .cfg's look okay, as far as I can tell. Is it possible this is a CFS3 "conversion"?

I just downloaded it and installed it and it does show up for me under Starwars as the manufacturer.

I unzipped to a temp folder first and then placed a copy of the folder named Tie Fighter in my Aircraft folder.

The sim does give an "incompatability" warning when I attempt to load it however - asking if I want to disable some unsupported features.

It loaded alright but I did not attempt to fly it.

I have since removed the aircraft as it obviously has not been tweaked properly for FS2004.

Regardless of how you answer the question about disabling features, your answer is recorded in your FS9.cfg file under the label [FrameCallNoWarn]

It will look like this:

[FrameCallNoWarn]
Bomber Tie=1

I'm glad this came up, because I just downloaded this myself and was preparing to install it.  Thanks for the heads up guys. ;)

I just tried it, and though I would have done the textures a little different, I like it. The contact points may need to be fiddled with a little, as it seems to sink into the runway a bit (atleast the model I've been messing with), but aside from that and the compatability warning, it works fine on my system. (Now if I could only find a good Death Star scenery object for RWY12, I'd be in business!)

No Deathstar, but check the scenery topic, if you already haven't. ;)

Now, to the TIE Fighters.....
(edit: add)

No joy.  I'll fiddle with it later, though.  I got me some Stardestroyers ot place. :)
