Converting AI to a flyable aircraft, how?

Postby JA 37 Viggen » Wed Nov 26, 2008 2:10 pm

First off, forgive me if I put this in the wrong section.

Now, on that other download site, I found an AI MiG-21MF and some Serbian and Yugoslav skins for it. Well, those are the only skins for a MiG-21 from that area that I've found. So, I want to fly these. But how would I convert that aircraft from an AI standard to a flyable plane? In the Third Wire series it is as easy as adding a cockpit. But I presume it is different here...

Any tips?

First off, does the plane show up in the aircraft menu?
Some AI do, and some don't.

If it does not, it requires editing the .air file to allow it to do so.

If it does show up. Then the simple way is to just add a panel and start enjoying.

There is another option, but it is frowned upon by some.

But I will await an answer to the first question. ;)

The MiG does show up.

However, there is no pilot, no animations, and it isn't very manueverable, so I think I'm going to drop it. Unless there is a way to fix those...

The first two, nope, can't fix those. But the last one can be.

There are numerous great Mig-21's at Simviation. Kanzuori Itos's are very nice, and there are lot's of repaints for them here as well.

This one might, it doesn't specify paint scheme, but has 5 different models included. worth a look while I search. :)

Second one on the page: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military169.htm

You could simply drop in an air file from another jet aircraft that is similar. that should allow you to fly it.
