Learjet Fuel System Question

Postby BTilson » Wed May 28, 2008 8:13 am

I'm working on setting up some controls for the default Learjet. I have keys mapped for the battery switch, engine starters, etc. I also have two keys mapped to Engine 1 and 2 fuel valve open/close. The only indication I can find of fuel status in the Learjet is the fuel flow PPH, and the total fuel quantity. Is there anywhere in the panels that shows me whether or not the selected engine has it's fuel valve open or closed? The keys do seem to function, because if I try to start one of the engines with the fuel valve theoretically closed, it will spin up and die back down over and over, but as soon as I open the fuel valve and start it again, after a few seconds of spinning, it catches and the N1 and N2 (as well as Oil PSI and fuel flow) jump up to normal levels. The problem is that I have no visual indication of whether or not the fuel valves are open.

I hope that makes sense. Also, if I am just really misunderstanding some fundamental aspect of the Learjet fuel system, please do not hesitate to let me know!

Thanks!

I've heard about weird operational problems in the default Lear, but not having flown it in a while, I seem to remember your fuel valve indications in this case basically settle (incorrectly) on the L Stby--X Feed--R Stby indications on the bottom right of the 2D panel.

I believe that in the real world, these are simple cross-feeding controls and controls to specify where fuel is drawn from, but from what I remember, in the sim they act as fuel valves. I'll have to hop in the Lear later today to confirm this though. Granted, what I just stated sounds very weird even to me...so hopefully someone can shed more light on this!

I must admit though, the Learjet has one of the best VCs of all of the default aircraft, together with the DC-3!  :)
