Heeeeellllp!!!

Postby jrbirdman » Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:13 pm

One of my favorite features doesn't work and I don't have the disks to reload. My strobes stopped working on the game and I don't know how or why.  My Navs, Landing Lights, and Rotating and Anti-Collision Beacons work, but not the strobes. sucks at night when I can't see them. Help anyone??

On alot of the aircraft (cant remember if it's all of them for sure) there is a seperate switch to activate the strobe. If you cant find it, just make sure you turn all lights off, then hit L on the keyboard to activate all lights on the aircraft.

Try that and see if it works.

Thank you for that advice, but unfortunately that was the first thing I tried. As I had stated before, all other lights work fine. The strobes on the other hand do not. So I'm wondering what may be causing this problem.

If you have no strobes on any of your ac, check the ...\Effects\ folder for the files; 'fx_strobe.fx' and 'fx_strobeh.fx'. The default ac, and most add-ons, use one or the other.

If they're missing and you don't have a source for the files (FS2002 files will work, they're the same), look around for:

Scott Gridley's 'Asynchronous Aircraft Strobes Effect' for FS2004, replacement files for strobes and beacons.

or-

'Nick's LightFix', http://www.simviation.com/fs2004misc21.htm, replaces aircraft and airport lights.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

....... look around for:

Scott Gridley's 'Asynchronous Aircraft Strobes Effect' for FS2004, replacement files for strobes and beacons.

That handy little file makes the night ligithing on aircraft traffic MUCH more realistic.  No longer does everything flash on and off at the same time.  WELL worth the4 effort of installing.  And it is an easy install anyway.

best,

Strobe lights are turned on and off with keeboard command:  O
(The letter , not the numeral)

Other aircraft lights are keyboard command: L
