Just a note to start things out: I am NOT one of the most knowledgeable in these parts. So, take my advice and information with a grain of salt, and always seek a second opinion.
i asked this question before but it didnt seem to help.
Just out of curiosity, can you post a link to that previous thread. I am curious what people posted as replies and answers. It may provide a good reference to help give you new information.
i need to know when using an FMC for the flight and your aircraft follows that route programmed, how can i stop ATC from saying please expedite your heading even though i am on my course?
I have on occasion run into this problem following take-off. Usually this has occurred when I have used the A/P's NAV system immediately after take-off to follow the course programmed into my GPS. I have found that if I instead follow ATC's directions (turn left to heading xxx, climb to FLxxx, etc.) UNTIL they give the order to resume my own navigation, I do not have this problem.
I could not attest to how it works in real life, but in FS, ATC commands ALWAYS trump whatever your flight plan is, especially when under IFR.
also when starting to descend i am told to turn ,etc....etc... so i can get onto the correct approach for landing ,but i cant as the FMC has been prorammed to take me directly to that runway without going around to line up, this also causes the atc to keep saying please expedite your heading.
It is very rare that you will fly direct to an airport as per the flight plan in your FMC. This is a place where FS does somewhat accurately model real life.
ATC will always vector you in for approach when flying under IFR. Even in real life you do not just get to choose to fly direct to the airport because you want to. Flights are given vectors, put into holding patterns, and so on.
To repeat myself for emphasis: ATC always trumps your flight plan under IFR in FS.
when i first tried it i thought no problem ill just turn off the l-nav switch and select heading hold and turn to the correct position but the aircraft doesnt respond.
OK, this seems to be a different bit of an issue here. I am not sure which aircraft you are using, but if you are flying one of the passenger airliners and turning off a nav "switch", you may be disabling your A/P's heading control features. Trying pressing the heading
button alone when going from NAV to HDG control on your A/P. This should give you control over the heading over your aircraft using the A/P system.
i was told to turn the ATC off but i see millions of people on flightsims doing flights with the FMC and having no problems!
Perhaps you could give us a link to a few of these millions ( ;) ) of videos so we can take a look and see what is being done so that maybe we can help you figure out how to replicate it.
i feel quite :-[ asking this question so i appreciate all the help.
thanks.
Don't feel bad about asking for help! It is one of the great things about having this community available! I ask for help all the time, and it has gotten me through a lot of challenges and taught me a lot about both FS and real aviation. So ask away! :)
Best of luck,
