Display.cfg?

Postby Zaphod » Wed Oct 24, 2007 5:59 am

Hi all.
At long last I've decided to install the FS9.1 patch but it gets so far and then says something like "the dispay.cfg is not the original or has been modified." It then refuses to install the update.
My question is; where can I find the original display.cfg on the installation discs?

Many thanks.

Zaphod.

Hello Zaph...!

....did you place the FS9.1 Folder/File WITHIN the FS 9 main Folder BEFORE doing the install...?

I don't think it works if you do the install and the File is somewhere else!

Hi Fozz.

Yes, I placed the exe. in the main FS9 folder and ran it from there.
Over the years there can't be many cfg. files I haven't altered one way and another. I can't help feeling that the Display.cfg error could be the first of many.

CD#1\Game folder

Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Well.....
I replaced the display.cfg with the original from disc1 (thanks again Dave) but I now get a message something like. "The FS9 update could not successfully install." No reason given or error codes.
I always had a feeling that installing this would be a problem. That's why I left it this long.
Hey ho

Zaphod (still enjoying an unpatched FS9) ;)

You could try a new download of the patch.........I have heard of cases where the download file was too small ..should be 26.8 mb........is yours that size?

...size really DOES matter....commoner ;) ;D

Not in my house apparently ;D ;D

The patch I used was from a disc included with the "PC Pilot" magazine and is 26.7mb? The version is 9.1.0.40929.
I'll check out the link you gave me and let you know how I get on.

Cheers.
Zaph....

Edit;
Checked it out. Same size, same version.

Zaph,

The installer does not care about addons but does check that files it is replacing are original files. Check the files dates of the following files:
