Blurry Textures

Postby Celtman » Sun Jul 01, 2007 11:48 am

I have heard that there is a way to stop distant textures look blurry by adding something to an FS9 file (.cfg i think)

can anyone please tell me what this is and how I can make distant textures look clearer?

Thanks

Distant textures are blurry.....

...because that are a long way away... ;)

Mist?..Fog?...Low Cloud?...

....Etc, etc..... ;)

In an aircraft you are looking a scenery which can be anything up to 50 miles away.

Even scenery 5 miles away will be blurred in REAL LIFE...!

Set your "Visibility Distance" in "Weather", to 5-10 miles Max...for realistic visibility....!

I think the fix you're looking for is to change the following section in the fs9.cfg file.

[TERRAIN]
...
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1
TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.0

Where I live, we have visibilities of over 40 miles...  ;) 10 miles is allittle to low IMO. 40 miles max.

If you live in Los Angeles or San Francisco, things tend to get a little blurry after 10 yards all around you...

On an extremely clear, Winter day, from my bedroom window, I can vaguely spot the 3,000 foot Black Mountains, through 20 miles of compressed Mist, Fog, and Smoke....

But, I'll tell you what...

There's no way that I can spot the Sheep grazing on top...
...and I'm bleedin' sure they can't see me either!... :o...

From my seat in our Club's Cessna 152 at 800 feet ASL, I can barely pick out objects 8-10 miles ahead through the haze... :'(...!

In real life, it takes a lot of concentration so spot a grass airstrip from the air, under most conditions....

...unless you live in Australia...where the creepy-crawly Spiders come from...
...and the residents have 20/20 vision.... ;D...!

Paul...;)...!
