Welcome to SimV,

The Boeings and the King Air are available to fly. The MD83, the Piper pa28 and the DH Dash 8 are included as ai only.

Any of these can be made flyable by installing an appropriate panel, and modifying the *.air file, using AirEd to make the ac visible in the Select Aircraft window(105 *Aircraft Type=2 change to ...=0). Some aircraft.cfg mods may also be necessary.

As an example, go here for a

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

As an example, go here for a  download file to make the MD83 flyable.

I'm quite sure there are add-on aircraft downloads for each of these that will look and fly better.

:-/ Sorry I dont know how to do any of the *.air file modifying buisness :-/

You'll get the hang of it once someone (other than me) tells you what to do. I can't as I don't know either  ::)

If you can't find someone to tell you then just download other planes and install them.

Download and install AirEd from the link above. Start AirEd. Either 'Open' the .air file for the aircraft you wish to modify or....... Click on 'Special' and then 'Set AirEd for.air files' and AirEd will open whenever you double click an .air file.

With the .air file open in AirEd just change line '105 *Aircraft Type=2' to '105 *Aircraft Type=0 and save'.

As always, backup any file before editing!!

Why bother AI aircraft were never designed to fly and making one flyable is just a waste of time in my opinion. The flight dynamics are the pits. If you see a AI plane you want to fly just download a flyable version of it. With sites such as here and www.avsim.com ther are more aircraft than you can shake a wing at ;D. I for one do not know why anyone would want to fly a aircraft meant for AI use only. But what the heck it is your sim and your decission. 8-)
