Error message at splash screen: Out of memory

Postby EagleX » Tue Jun 26, 2007 2:17 pm

Hi, Im having a very strange problem start last night.
Every time I start fs9, I get the following error:
Your computer has run out of available memory. Flight simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard disk drive. Run disk cleanup to free up space, and then try running Flight Simulator again.
I did everything in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892610 but it didnt solve the problem.
heres the msg:

That message appears to be related to your hard drive, have you run a clean up to delete temp files and cookies? do you know how much disk space you have left?

To run a clean up you can do this:
Start => Run => type "cleanmgr" hit enter key
it will calcute how much stuff it can take out, it may take a few minutes
then click ok on the window that pop up, wait a few minutes until it goes away

then run a disk defrag and try again with fs9

hope this helps
Dan

PS you may be short on disk space

How much space is there left on your HD? Have you checked what other processes are running at the same time as your sim and how much of the available resources are they using? How much RAM have you got?

You shut down all other programs that are running? I see some icons in the taskbar (messenger, ICQ). Close each and every one of them before you start FS.

Crash ;)

I get that message too. I just restart the computer wait for the red light to stop flashing then load flight sim! ;)
If your not part of the answer    your part of the problem!

I suffered this problem for a fair amount of time. To end it I found the problem in the FS9...\Addon Scenery\scenery. There are clashes with the AF2_XXXX. So I put back the last successful scenery.cfg and rebuilt this file.
Also remove the last AFCAD files you entered into \Addon Scenery\scenery file!, and then feed them back agin until you get the error message.
In passing I found FFFlorida caused most problems because I did not follow the instructions fully!

Hope this may help you
