Both 2004 and FSX have slowed down

Postby barrymb » Wed Jun 13, 2007 3:25 pm

Hi
All of sudden both FSX and 2004 became very slow.  This include loading, changing from one screen to other, flying, views.  The programs have become complety different.  Its frustrating to even try to use.  Worked fine for 3 weeks
The computer is brand new and everything else seems to be ok
     Thanks  in advance    Barry

A: May I ask for your rig's specs? This would help to dtermine what's wrong.
B: Have you ever gotten a virus or other malicious application?
C: Do you run Firewall/Antivirus/Antispyware? If yes, what versions.

It sounds like virus/spyware activity to me. Hopefully not, but Thanks for the info.

Hi
  Thanks for the reply!
I have a new HP 9335 Intel Core duo 64 bit processing. It has 2 gig of ram.
It has Webroot Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro Anti virus.

The prooblem occurrs when running either FS. So its not the program but something with the computer.  Going to bring the computer back to Best Buy.   The left side of the computer is very warm.  Maybe its over heating. Internet seem to run fine.

   Thanks again

Honestly though, if you can. Get a Systemax comp from Tigerdirect. It doesn't play worth a crap with FSX but man, FS2004 plays like a dream.

Addons:
PMDG 747 & 737
Ultimate Night Enviornment 2007
Ultimate Terrain USA

Frame rates anywhere between 34 and 45. Its Uber cool

He just bought a new rig, vis. He ain't gonna spring for the dough to go out and buy something even newer. I seem to have the same problem. My machine used to run FS9 like a house on fire. Then I got Effessecks and now both FSes don't run so well. I also had a spyware and virus clean-up in February, which really screwed things up. It's so bad I am putting in a new hard drive and a boxed version of Windows XP tomorrow...

You can't just reformat the hard drive or did the spyware crap pretty much destroyed it? I've had similar problems before but went and reformated and did a clean install and things worked out great.

My pc has become so slow, avoid using it. Infact, I haven't flown in months.

Eventually I will come up with the money to build a new, more advanced rig (prepare for a long wait!)

If it isn't a virus/ malicious program, it's a overheating component. It may be a good investment to buy new fans and heat spreaders, especially for the CPU/GPU. Newer GPU's run HOT

If your pc is screwing up, it's best to get a drink! [smiley=beer.gif]

No, vis. I wanted a clean slate. Then I would KNOW there is nothing residual there causing me problems. I have the new drive in now and plan to put all my FS stuff back on tomorrow. I'm excited like a kid on Christmas Eve about the possibility that Effessecks might just run like it is supposed to. It did just short of OK before the new drive. According to the red lettering across the top of my screen when FS9 is running and I am in flight, I was/am getting 40 fps out of it before the new drive. I am hoping for a new dawn of sim pleasure come the morning sun...
