Postby tomcatter » Thu Jan 18, 2007 8:34 pm

Hey there guys. Just curious, I have yet to download and install the 9.1 patch. If I download and install will it affect any of my add-ons? Thanks.

Read the instructions on the download page very carefully before attempting to install it. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_update9.1_english.asp

You might not need it anyway. I believe later versions of FS2004 are already version FS9.1. Check the version from Help/About on the FS9 menu bar.

Tomcatter,

Place the patch INSIDE THE FS9 ROOT FOLDER!

RUN IT FROM INSIDE THE FS9 ROOT FOLDER.

I would definitely update with the patch as it addresses allot of things and will not interfere with any of your add ons  ;)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!  I attempted the upgrade, and it was a mess due to me having a "no CD" .exe.

In addition, many files had to be transferred over from the original CD.  After I did all that was "required", it told me it couldn't be done and the update stopped.

Luckily, I had a full backup, so I didn't screw things up.  I'm v9.0 and everything is great.
Hope you learn from my experience.

...mmm......possibly not the best of advice there I don't think gwill.........if you update to FS9 version 9.1 then you must get version 9.1  of the NOCD.exe. That could have been your problem. There are TWO versions of the NOCD and using the right one is essential. CORRECTLY installed, version 9.1 has certain improvements...........commoner ;)
