TAKSI Tutorial

Image

All this was written by me. The screenshots were also by me.

I was looking round in Simviation and noticed that there were many questions about in-game recording etc. So I decided to write this tutorial. If anyone wants to use it for their website etc, please PM me for permission thanks.
* I found this FREEWARE Alternative to FRAPS. Im not sure if this is the right board to post this, but if its not please move it  :). I am not connected to TAKSI in anyway. I just found it on Sourceforge / Google.

**** Start of tutorial ****

Theres a FREEWARE Alternative to fraps called Taksi. Its good, and aslong as you have the right settings it wont lag. The only problem  is that it cant record sound YET. However, the future developments are planning to include the Sound Feature.

Heres a link to Taksi:

***** Make Sure you download the DEV (BETA) Version because the Stable version wont work with FS9******

Here are the settings I recommend for Flight Simulator 2004:

[glow=yellow,2,300]CUSTOM[/glow]
Parameter Name: fs9
Frame WEIGHT: 0.5
Frame RATE: 10

Image

[glow=yellow,2,300]FORMAT[/glow]
Target Frame Rate: 10

Image

[glow=yellow,2,300] HotKeys[/glow]
For the hotkeys, try changing them into buttons that wont work in game. For example, if you used F8 to start the video record, thats the Flaps, so no point using F8. The most important hotkeys are Video Record START and Video Record Stop. So try using buttons you dont need in game for those. For example, try using numbers on your MAIN KEYBOARD (NOT YOUR NUMPAD). Also try using CTRL + * some key.

Make sure USE DIRECT INPUT API FOR KEYS is checked.

[glow=yellow,2,300]IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO[/glow]
As you have the DEVELOPMENT version or you should have downloaded it. Infact, they call it DEVELOPMENT version, but we would call it a BETA version.

Make sure you *UNTICK* The HOOK GDI Feature

Image

If you leave the HOOK GDI Feature TICKED, it will hook onto your EXPLORER.EXE, and cause you to reboot. So BE SURE to untick it.
---------------------

This tutorial was made for Flight Simulator 9. It will work with other games, but for the CUSTOM settings, you should change the Parameters. To be honest, im not 100% sure about Parameters, but they do work as I have put them.

**** End of tutorial ****

Thanks and enjoy Taksi,
I am not a maker etc. I just found it and used it, its very simple.

HAVE FUN RECORDING VIDEOS + TAKING SCREENSHOTS!

Thanks,
- sharkbate24.

Hello thanks for your reply.
I writ this tutorial specifically for FS9, and maybe popped a bit of help to configure it with other games. I think I'll just wait for a mod to move this, because I think the screenshot software board you told me about is just for screenshots, where as this is for video.

Thanks for your reply,
And best of luck,
