CH Yoke and Pedals

Postby steve_c » Sat Dec 02, 2006 9:47 am

Can anyone please advise. I am new to flght sims.  Is the Ch Yoke as good as the adverts say?  I have been using the joystick put planning to invest my meagre finances in the Yoke and Pedal deal.  Does it really add a sense of realism to FS2004.

Thanks

Congrats on your first post!
It really depends on what type of a/c you like to fly as to whethe or not you use a control column instead of a joystick.
For those of us who are real pilots the control clumn is a better bet. And also if you intend to fly jet transports in the sim. The CH yoke has spring tensioners that simulate the aerodynamic forces. The difference between the CH yoke and real control volumns is the trim. In real life one adjusts the trim to take away the aerodynamic load. Whereas for the CH yoke one has to activate the trim switches and and the same time return the yoke to it's neutral position.
For flying general aviation a/c probably you will need rudder pedals especially when having to deal with crosswind landings.
If you do decide to acquire a CH yoke one tip is maximise all the sensitivities.

Welcome to SimV!

The CH Products yoke and pedals are a great pair to increase the realism.  Saitek has a new set of pedals too....... but I use the CH ones so can't say much about them except they LOOK good.

Also check down in the Hardware Forum and in the Homebuild Cockpits Forum for threads on yokes and pedals.

best,
