N00bish post of dumb problem updating from 9.0-9.1

Hiya guys.  Sorry to waste forum space with this kind of stupid stuff, but this is a mildly desperate post.  I discovered that I need to be updated to 9.1 to run stuff such as Active Camera.  Turns out I'm an idiot, and never patched my game.  I have all kinds of addons and would really like to avoid a full reinstall.  I tried to run the updater, and it stopped responding when it got to updating the .dll files.  I killed the update and figured I'd run it again.  When I ran it next though, it said the update had been installed.  A quick check in the game (and the continual non responsivness of my Active Camera) indicate that the update is indeed not installed.  Any idea how I can install this fully?  I'm okay with backikng up .dll files and grabbing them off the CD, buut my hands are kind of tied right now.

Run the installer from the fs9 folder. The 9,1 patch shouldn't cause problems with most addons, infact, most are designed to use it.

Do as Bindoe said, If that doesn't work your in the same hole I was in =P

What I did was, Rename my FS9 folder (at the time) to something different, but still in the (default) C>Program Files>Microsoft Games folder. A good choice to rename it as is FS9. Then, reinstall the game FULLY with the default installation folder being C>Program Files>Microsoft Games>Flight Simulator 9. What this does, is gives you a brand new FS9 install, but keeps all your old addons. Install the patch into the NEW FS9 folder (Flight Simulator 9), then open up another window with your OLD folder. You should now have two folders open. Flight Simulator 9, and FS9. Open up your Aircraft folder in FS9, and drag all of the planes you want to keep into your Flight Simulator 9 folder. Then go to Gauges and Effects and drag ALL of those from FS9 to Flight Simulator 9. Then drag any modules you may have in your FS9 module folder. I suggest doing the sound folder as well.

You now have a fully installed FS9 without having to reinstall all the planes =P It hasn't caused me any big problems so far, so it should work fine.

Hm..ok I'll give those a try.  The first time I ran the installer, it was off my desktop.  I know it was effecting the FS9 directory though, as it definitely made changes in the generic scenery folders.  

Does draging airplanes from one directory to another have any issues with reguards to payware planes?

Anywho, thanks for these good usefull replies.  Sadly, I won't know the results for a few days, as I'm visiting home until Sunday or Monday.

That depends on the payware if you had to install it then you might want to reinstall it to be on the safe side, But I do not think that dragging it over will hurt anything as long as the orignal file name has not changed. So as long as you name the new installation the same name as the old one was you should have no problems. But if you change the name of the folder or put it on a different drive you probabbly ought to reinstall so it gets the correct path.
