Sound & Performance

Postby Jon H » Tue Sep 26, 2006 12:01 pm

I've noticed that at busy airports framerates can drop as low as 6, however if I press Q to turn offf the audio, they immediately jump to about 15.

I'm using onboard sound, so is there any way of improving this performance, or should I get a seperate sound card?

Almost all the integrated audio systems use part of the CPU resources to work.

As things are, the cheapest option you have is to try and find an audio driver that's not as demanding as your actual one in terms of CPU usage.

The best choice though would be to buy a PCI audio card, even if economical. Add-on PCI audio card use their own mini-CPU and ask no resources to your main CPU.
