Cessna 172 CFG and AIR

Postby jay_the_pilot » Sun Feb 19, 2006 6:41 pm

Haven't been around here in a while, terribly sorry, but my problem is that I (stupidly) overwrote my default CFG and AIR files for the default 172 when installing a Civil Air Patrol repaint.  Now the stupid thing has a three hundred horsepower engine.  After an exhaustive search I could find no place to download these files, so I'm asking any of you kind souls to find those files (usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS9\aircraft\c172) and attach them to an email sent to jaythepilot@plateautel.net  I do apologize for my idiocy and am thankful that there are friendly communities to help out such as Simviation.

FS aircraft files are located on CD1, MSGAME1.cab.

Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thank-you, Dave for the tip... ;D..!

I've lost my default Cessna 172's default "Red and Black" textures due to installing a 3rd party texture pack... :'(...!

Will give it a try... ;)...!

Paul... 8)...!

P.S. ...and therein lies the problemo...:o...!

Opening the MSGAME1.cab > cabdir >
....displays zillions of files, none of which are entitled "Cessna 172 Textures".... :'(...!
Can any one lead me to the file/folder which just gives me back my missing "Red and Black" default textures, to add to my 172 Aircraft Folder, and existing aircraft.cfg file...;)...?
...there's an interesting problem for you...LOL...!
Thanks, Lads... ;D...!

...thinking...
A better idea would be to extract the complete default Cessna 172 aircraft to a spare Folder, so that I can pick out the bits I need...
How to do that Lads...?
...Ta... ;)...!

Paul,

The red C172 textures are in '....\aircraft\c172\texture.2\.

If your using XP-Explore the CD (view=details)>double click on 'MSGAME1.cab. In the right pane (file list) click on the 'Path' bar. Highlight the files destined for '...aircraft\C172\texture.2'. Drag and drop the files to a destination of your choice to extract. Note: this method does not 'Extract using folder names'.

If your using W98-Explore using your favorite archive utility (I use Winzip 7.0) and the method is essentially
