B-24 Liberator

I'm relatively new at downloading aircraft into FS9.  I have had various success downloading a P-38, F-20, A-10, B-25, and a B-24.  The P-38 is perfect runs great.  The f-20 is great but no FS panel (i'm assuming the panel is the 6-8 little icons for GPS, Map etc).  The A-10 doesn't show a real cockpit nor has a panel.  The B-25 flies great and has only the GPS icon.   The B-25 looks and sounds great and gets up to 120mph, but won't leave the ground.  What's up?  Remember I'm a novice, I love to fly simulations.  many thanks

You didn't say where you downloaded all those planes, neither you said who was the author of which nor if the plane was for FS2002 o FS2004.

Then you say that the B25 flyes greatly, only to contraddict yourself soon after saying that the B25 doesn't take off. A behaviour like that, by the way, is either a gross trim misconfiguration or you're trying to use a plane thought for FS2002 on FS9 (or the other way around).

Try to be a little more precise, please. Help us help you.

Hello and welcome to Simviation and the world of Flight Simulation.  I'm assuming you meant that the 'B-24' "looks and sounds great" etc.

The B-25 flies great and has only the GPS icon.

Does it have a panel, but no gauges showing up on the panel? If not, You need to install the gauges in either the FS2004/gauges directory, or you can place them in the aircraft's panel folder

Hey FScory, if you want a good, really good freeware B-25 do a search here and when you find one by a Roy Chaffin of RCS download it.  If you don't mind spending $25 USD, there is also the B-25 "Briefing Time" done by the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Museum at KRDG in Reading, PA.  I forget their exact site, I bought their stuff in person as I only live about an hour and 15 drive from there.  Just google it.  Also, if you like bombers, for about $29 USD there is Wings of Power by Shockwave.  Check in the software stores in your area malls, you might find it at Gamespot, Electronics Boutique, Babbages, Media Play, and I've even seen it at Best Buy and Circuit City.  There's also and excellent B-29 freeware that was produced within the year.  I forget the author or sim name, just do a search.  Ask anything you like, lots of helpful folks here and welcome to a hobby you will enjoy for years.  Just be careful though, I'm recently separated and FS was a factor but, oh well, she knew I was into it when she married me

ALWAYS remember to read the read-me file. Some AC are easy, copy the folder into the FS9/Aircraft directory, job done. However, some, require you to flly understand the layout of the various folders in the main FS9 directory. Some panels have their guages within their own folder, some require the guages 'cut n paste' to the main guage folder and so on. Double check the AC that you have trouble with from within their own folder.

BTW, The B25 that MAAM sells on their site IS the B25 that Roy Chaffin devloped but with a few extra liverys and non flight related addons. (kneeboard stuff, history file, etc.) The actual basic AC is just the same. Mr Chaffin developed it for the MAAM but there was a falling out over rights to the AC.

Many thanks to you five who responded.  You are a lot of help.  Yes, I did mean the B-24 would not take off.  I'll let that go and find more.  I will do better research and do some file patching.  Again, thanks for the responses and have a Happy New Year.

That was very rude in my opinion, and you really need to read the post before you answer it. Think about it = B-25 Flies greatly. B-25 has two engines. B-24 doesn't leave the ground. B-24 has four engines

Depends how you read it. The way I see it Ashaman was only trying to be helpful.

If people are more specific about any problems they might have, someone like me can check out the files & possibly fix it for them.

PS. I don't have the B-24 but I just checked out a PB4 Privateer by the same author (I think). I could possibly help with that panel problem but as it seems he's dumped the aircraft it no longer matters.
