Those darn default..

Postby Foxtrot Sport » Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:04 pm

I've tried countless times to try and live with this default AI, and I think I've hit the end of my line.  I have a large load of ProjectAI to compensate, and most of it usually does the job.  However, with this randomly spawning default, I just can't handle it anymore!

Is there any way of deleting the original AI completely?  And if so, can I pick and choose which ones?  Thanks in advance.

PAI has special programs that can add/remove default commercial traffic, or general aviation, or vintage traffic ;)

The stock AI traffic is defined in a BGL file located in your
Scenery/World/scenery folder.
The file is named "traffic030528.bgl"

If you rename that file to "traffic030528.bgl.disabled" or something
like that you will remove all the stock AI.

To selectively remove AI you need to download ( and read
the documentation ) Lee Swordy's Traffic Tools ( TTools.exe ).

You would then decompile the traffic030528.bgl and wind up with
three files called:

Airports030528.txt
Aircraft030528.txt
Flightplans030528.txt

By selectively removing various lines in the Fliightplans file
you can eleiminate selected traffic however it  would be quite
tedious to do  as that is a 2.7 MB text file!

better you should disable that file and use some of the available
free AI traffic programs or create your own flightplans using
any aircraft that you have in your inventory.
The documentation that comes with TTools is more than
sufficient to give you all the knowledge that you need to do
this. It's quite straight forward for the most part and very
rewarding to see your own traffic moving about your virtual
world.

I've done that and still default AI pops up...I hate it...I really want to start fresh with AI......

PS: This should be in the AI Traffic Board ::) ::)

I'll post before it gets moved..

If I remember correctly.. You have to make the decision to remove default AI when you first install PAI..  or they just get written into the new traffic.bgl that your sim references from then on out, no matter how many changes you make. I think it even renames the deafult.bgl for you.

Then you can add the PAI "extra" stuff.. like GA, vintage.. etc.

I suppose you could go through the new, PAI  traffic.bgl source file with Notepad and remove the default stuff, line by line.. BUT GEEZ.. if you add a whole bunch of the PAI stuf.. that text file is MASSIVE.

I usually delete my traffic bgl files (both pai and default).
Install the General Aviation pack from AI,
Install all the models and flight dynamics files,
Install all the traffic files.

Doing it this way makes it so ONLY the files you install, are the ones that exist.

If you have removed the original AI traffic bgl file and you still see the AI planes....... you obviously have a duplicate version of the AI flights hiding somewhere.  Likely it is "merged" into the recompiled "new" AI bgl file.  To get rid of that, you'll likely need to remove ALL the traffic bgl files one at a time until you find which one conains the copy of the default aircraft.

PAI makes a default traffic remover that gets rid of the original bgl file stuff.  Download it. But if you have inadvertyantly "merged" the PAI stuf with the default files........ it won't help.

Might need a "clean sweep" and then reinstall the PAI files only.

best,
