thanx for inputs, do you have any other great ideas for "close call" trips ??
I could fill a book with those, I'm a 'round-world' addict - and I LOVE working out how to do long-range trips in short-ranged aircraft!
I started with jets but later came to prefer props - because you have many more options when it comes to economising on fuel. At the moment I'm taking my current favourite (1940 Hawker Hurricane II) round. It only has a 'book' range of 400nms., but by going high and keeping the revs down and the mixture lean, I can stretch that to 700 if I have reasonable luck with winds. Still have to work out the routes carefully, though, with a range that short.
You sure see some beautiful scenery on RW trips. This is one of the most picturesque parts of Saudi-Arabia :)

but hopefully this weekend when the misses is working and the cats sleeping I'll have my crib all to myself and my PMDG 744..... how long did it take you to do the trip. did you use acc. time or did you do it hardcore
