Fuel fiasco :)

Postby lib319 » Fri Nov 18, 2005 11:11 pm

I've just landed my Fanda Dash 8 at Trondheim - Vaernes Airport without enough fuel to even make it to the gate, (and a near miss on final as ATC had changed the active, so I got another Dash 8 heading straight at me on takeoff).

I used FS Nav to make my flight plan and with the amount of fuel in LBs I put 3 times FS Nav's estimate in the tanks.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the Fanda aircraft or FS Nav.  (Or more likely, my incompetent flight planning) :)

you need to tell FSNavigator how much fuel your plane consumes in different phases of flight so it can give you an accurate prediction, check the "aircraft" option in FSNav and see if it checks out with the plane you're using ;)

You need to make sure you fly at an optimum efficient height for that ac, then throttle back just above stall point (leave a reasonable gap above the stall speed, so as not to stall if the conditions change).  Then you can achieve the max range for the ac.

What throttle and altitude did you use?
