Well, I made one of the biggest decisions in my computer's lifetime. I have now made a complete reinstall of FS9. I uninstalled it, deleted any remaining files [I backed up the Chevy as usual], and made the needed changes to the registry as well as deleting the FS9.cfg file. Then I REinstalled just FS for the time being.

From now on, I'll pay close attention to whatever new addons I put into the freshly-installed sim. FS9 kept giving me some strange things after some time [the occasional blue screen of death].

Well, starting over.

we are here together to remember Katahu's old sim.
It was a good sim. It's life hasn't been easy but it was always trustworthy.
The sim gave us all an Enzo, we will always be grateful for it.
But remember,
Life will continue and a new sim will Arise. May it be as good or better than this one.

always refreshing to do a clean boot, luckily for me, i always keep my downloaded zips in a downloads folder (it's already 6gb wide, but it keeps things from being lost)

so i never lose my addons when i format/reinstall, which we should all just accept that sooner or later it WILL be needed

Same here. I always back up my favorite addons to a backup folder.

And here. I had to do a complete removal and reinstall just last weekend, as the sim kept crashing out for the same reason - something to do with the fe.dll module. I'm in the process of replacing all of the addons (first back was the 737 Experience!) and so far, no real issues. A little research on the net indicated that there might have been some kind of overload of the audio/video system - too much information being procesed by the frame engine, which is apparently what the 'fe' in fe.dll stands for.

Anyhow, it's running, and with better frame rates than before! I've turned down the settings a little to try to keep the frame engine happy, but there's not much I can do without upgrading some of my components.

I have two hard drives one serves as a backup of files I want to make sure I have in the event I should have to to a uninstall and reinstall.
It sure makes life easier that way

I agree gary I wouldnt want to ever go back to just one drive. took me 3 years to get the second but love it.
