help with a serious problem at FS9

Postby lanis21 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 1:53 pm

hey yo you all,

I'm writing this topic and almost crying.... ???  while I was flying today something happend to my flight plan and it started to go crazy during the flight.

it was a flight plan on a direct GPS mode in the route ATL-PHX with POSKY's new 767-200. after arriving at my flight level i changed to 16X time and while flying the map started to change the HDG and the CRS up to 90 degrees(!) and back to the original HDG. that happend several times, untill I had to stop the flight.

I tried it with some other planes and the same thing happend. I must say that the NAV button was pushed and I was in a GPS mode.

in order to see what happens in a regular 1X time mode, i flew a short route (EDDF-EBBR) with IFDG A319. while climbing in a normal rate the map went crazy

Does someone has an idea what could have caused that? I would like to add that usualy I add a/c, panels and scenery as everybody else. someone told me I should delete FS9.cfg file and restart FS, is it true? what happens if i do such a thing.

thanx so very much in advance...

Lanis, could you please clarify what you mean by 'the map went crazy'?  Do you mean the earth turned, the plane turned, or the GPS screen turned, or what?

Deleting fs9.cfg is a common first step whenever you have problems-go ahead and delete it, a new one will be automatically created the next time you start FS, you'll just have to redo all your settings.

Hope you work it out.

i'll clarify - let's say my original CRS is 220, ok? while flying the CRS changes to 190 (in the map and the HDG gyro) and then to 160 and then back to the original CRS etc.

i didn't manage to see if the earth moves as well.

if i detlete fs9.cfg and restart, do i need to have the original a/c which comes with FS9? i took them out....do i need to do anything else before i delete it?

can your tell me what does this file do?

sorry for so many questions at once...

No problem Lanis.... sounds to me liek your aircraft is "popping" in flight, something I haven't heard of before.

The fs9.cfg holds all the configuration settings for the game-for example, everything that you have set in the display menu is logged in the .cfg.

You shouldn't need the default aircraft, but if you're apprehensive about deleting the .cfg just back it up before you do it ;)

All you have to do is delete the file 'fs9.cfg'.  That's it.  When you restart the game a new one will be automatically generated for you.

Well, not really... I'm not one of the troubleshooting experts here, but the closest thing I've heard of to what you're describing is the very common "jumping" up and down of the aircraft when they're on the ground-although I don't think they are in any way associated.

Did you change anything right before it started?  Was it your first flight in the POSKY 762?

Also-have you tried restarting your computer?

before i downloaded it i reorginized my a/c folders. instead of the names givven by the manufaturer (for ex: IFDG) i gave airbus.

that's all.

so i just have to delete the FS9.cfg?

Well, that shouldnt've cause the problem you're describing....

I'm not saying deleting fs9.cfg will solve the problem, but when you're confronted with a perplexing problem in FS (it's a microsoft product, so it'll happen a lot :P), generally deleting fs9.cfg is the first step.

Guys?  Where is everybody else? Anybody else ever hear of this?

btw-was it your first flight in the posky 762?

Well it's rather interesting that the first time it ever happened it was your first flight with the 762.... a coincidence?  I dunno, I give it a 50/50 chance it was the 762 that messed things up somehow.

Unfortunately, in FS, coincidences like this are all too common ::)

first of all we'll start with a smile -  :) because maybe (just maybe for now) things are going well.

let me tell you what i've done:

1) I went to POSKY main page and saw that the 762 in Delta's paint that i was flying when the problem first happened has a fix version, so i erased the a/c from my FS.

2) then I made a flight in route SEA-LAX with USair 737-400, and after several moment in flight the problem still happened. so it wasn't the 762.

3) then I went to my addon scenery and erased the last scenery i added (KPDX) and restarted my FS. I loades the same flight, i after almost 80% of it (in 1x, 8x and 16x time) nothing happened!!!  :o

the next thing i'm gonna do is to make a long haul flight to see what happens. I promise to tell you all after i finish it.

thanx for your help till now.
