Looks like you'd have nothing to lose by trying a re-install.  Do an uninstall, then make sure all FS folders are gone, then re-install.  My specs aren't so hot either, 512, 64, Intel graphics, low frame rates, but never had a problem even close to that.  Sorry I don't know more about this. I don't think it's the settings.  Do you have the correct version of Direct X?  Again, not able to be more specific there either, but perhaps someone else can.  Also, check thru the 'Hardware' forums here, maybe you can get a clue there.

Whenever I hear of a video problem like this, a question always springs to my mind....

"Do you have the same problem with any other games which you play on the computer"...::)...?

If not, then the problem only has to be within the game you are having the problem with...;)...!

...Which is often cured simply by a re-install...:)...

Hagar, I hope I didn't put you on the spot.. You've come to my rescue on more than one occasion so I thought you would be the logical choice to help Jake out. Thanks for your input. Hopefully it'll get him going in the right direction.  :)

No problem Clipper old chap. Most people know more than me about hardware anyway. Things have moved on since my heyday & I've lost touch with it all now - apart from the basics which still apply to any version of FS on any system. I happened to spot this but I usually keep out of the FS9 forum these days. ;)

It looks like the F-18 in your screen shot is also devoid of textures.  Are your other aircraft also texture-less?

If so, I think that might be a clue.  Maybe, and I must emphasize "maybe", there's a problem outside the FS program that is causing this, in which case my re-install suggestion posted earlier might not fix it.  Read all the posts here and follow the suggestions, some are very simple things to do.  Myself and Hagar have mentioned DirectX, look into that for sure.

If you do figure this out, please let us know what caused it.  Good luck, we know it's frustrating but we're rootin' for ya!

If your video comes form your motherboard and NOT from a dedicated Video card, you are sharing your Ram 512mb betweem cpu and video.  The weaker the video the more the textures will suffer. -- depending on your flying views. Your options are to upgrade your Ram, and if possible add a video card with at least 64mb. Let us all know , as we heard your scream all the way to Tumbuktu.
Good luck

First, I've looked at a picture of your motherboard  Radeon Xpress 200, and it does not appear  that you have an AGP slot. But I could be wrong.  If you do, what is the video memory. If it is a 32mb, it;s kind of weak.  And to answer to your question, there is no way that I know of to increase the memory, but replacing the card with a larger size memory. High altitude flying will minimize the annoyance you spoke of.

Hmm...does that only happen in some areas?

...perhaps the area covered in the SRTM Alps terrain mesh package?

Try changing the camera angle 180 degrees and then press 'Alt' and then just click anywhere in the screen...

Its a glitch with the mesh...
