Graphics Settings Slider Problem :(

Postby edzmen » Mon Jun 27, 2005 12:49 pm

How do you set the graphics sliders to full in FS2004?

I've been on the settings page and tried to move the sliders for the graphics from their default 'Low' to high - but they wont move from the 0% marks for anything.

If i move them with my arrow keys they make no difference to the overall % and are reset to 'low' again if I click 'ok'.

Am i doing something wrong here?
Thanks for any help given! :)

Well if your system truly is what your signature advertises, you shouldn't be having a problem.  All you've gotta do is click and drag the slider..if that's not working, I don't know what to tell ya.  You're definitely equipped to do it!

For some reason it doesnt show the % graphics quality increasing when i move the sliders.

And they just go straight back to 0% each time i try to move them higher.

It wont let me click-and-drag any of the sliders. They also dont move from the default 'Minimum' when i select the default 'High' graphics settings... :(

Surely they should stay in the poistion you last left them- not snap back to 0%???

I never had this problem with FS2002????

Sorry its OK now i've fixed the problem! :)

It was to do with the Alienware resolution display settings for their custom destop schemes.

When i changed the display settings back to standard Win XP the sliders worked fine at Max.

Thanks for your help anyway! :)

Maybe Holmes_Fans.  It depends what edzmen paid for his Alienware brand new.  If it is on sale you can get close to the scratch-built price.

I've been building PC's now for 20 years and buy my hardware components from several discount wholesale supply houses on the internet.  When it came time for my brother to buy a new PC he told me what he wanted and I came up with a price to build it from scratch.  He looked around at some retail outlets and found a Dell PC on sale that had the same specs for about the same price as I could have built it.

There's really nothing wrong with buying an "off the shelf" or "mail order" PC.  Not if you get what you want and the price is right.

I don't personally like Alienware, I do find them overpriced.  But there's a time and a place for such a review.  If someone asks what I think, I'll give them an honest opinion.

But to jump on a guy after he asks a question, essentially telling him "You're a fool who wasted his money"....that's a little inappropriate, IMO.

I second that... if it is a nice computer and his is (obviously) pleased with it - don't be mean! ;)

Edzman - that must have been boring flying all that time with the graphics like that! :o

Thanks for your opinions on my PC guys!  ;D

Yes, i had many people tell me I was a fool to buy Alienware even before i decided which brand of PC to go for.

I've only just got this PC [last 3 days], so i was still getting used to it.

I'll give you one thing though, it ain't half fast and the graphics are awesome.

I've got all the sliders to full now with full Anti-A set on both the graphics card and FS9 and Trilinear filtering and its not missing a beat at 80+ fps!  8)

I could have probly got as good a PC for less but hey, i like Alienware and its my choice... :P
